March 30, 2012 - Chicago, IL - www.beltone.com - Beltone awarded the first-ever "Award of Excellence" to Salus University Osborne College of Audiology at the AudiologyNOW! Convention in Boston, MA, March 28-31, 2012. The award recognizes the school for its groundbreaking efforts to provide students with the business skills needed to operate and manage a private audiology practice.
"Beltone is proud to present the first Award of Excellence to Salus University Osborne College of Audiology," said Todd Murray, President of Beltone North America. "We believe that the creation of an on-campus private practice audiology clinic can be a model for other programs in the future."
During the year, Beltone partnered with the Osborne College of Audiology in Elkins Park, PA, to present curriculum and tools that focus on private practice ownership as a career path after graduation. The college is one of the few to open up its curriculum to include the private practice model, teaching best practices and business-building skills to students in the AuD program.
"On behalf of the Osborne College of Audiology and the University, I am honored to receive this prestigious award from Beltone." said Victor Bray, PhD, who accepted the award. "Through our educational initiatives, we are striving to support and engage audiology students by preparing them for the clinical and business management challenges they will encounter in their professional careers."
The late George S. Osborne, PhD, DDS, for whom the school was named, posthumously received the Larry Mauldin Award for Excellence in Education in 2008. Dr. Osborne was a driving force in founding the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) School for Audiology where he also served as the School's dean.
