Australian Hearing Hub logoThe Australian Hearing Hub at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia is launching its new state-of-the-art facilities with a conference entitled Language, Literacy and Cognition in Children with Hearing Impairment on April 17 – 19, 2013. The Australian Hearing Hub brings together leading hearing-related research, clinical and educational organizations under one roof with a common purpose – to conduct research that will enhance the lives of people with hearing impairment.

This inaugural conference will provide an outstanding opportunity for Australian and international researchers to exchange current knowledge and findings on the broad themes of language, literacy and cognition in children with hearing impairment, and to set future research agendas to address this challenging topic. In addition, submissions on the normal development of language, literacy and/or cognition in children that inform their development in children with hearing impairment will also be considered.

A special part of the event will be the Libby Harricks Memorial Oration, held annually by the Deafness Forum of Australia. This year’s speaker will be Professor Laurie Eisenberg from the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles.

For more information about attending and/or presenting at the conference, please view the conference brochure (PDF) or visit hearinghub.edu.au/conf2013
