Noise-induced hearing loss is the second most frequently self-reported occupational injury. As many as one in ten school-age children are estimated to have noise-induced hearing loss, and they face new and more risks for hearing loss than ever before. All indicators point to noise-induced hearing loss being on the rise, despite it being a "preventable" condition. Noise-induced hearing loss prevention isn't just about annual audios and foam earplugs. Construction workers, musicians, children and other populations present special challenges in terms of hearing loss prevention. How do we, as professionals, educate, motivate and implement effective hearing protection programs for each and every one of our clients?
AudiologyOnline invites professionals to take an in-depth look at these issues and more, with a month of Innovative Thinking in Hearing Loss Prevention in June and July. Moderated by Brian J. Fligor, Sc.D., this expert seminar series includes distinguished faculty such as: Laurie Wells, Au.D., FAAA - Associates in Acoustics, Loveland, CO & American Academy of Audiology representative on the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC);Rick Neitzel, M.S., CIH - Research Scientist, University of Washington and President-Elect of the National Hearing Conservation Association;Deanna Meinke, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Audiology, University of Northern Colorado and President, National Hearing Conservation Association;Michael Stewart, Ph.D., Professor of Audiology, Central Michigan University and Marshall Chasin, AuD.,M.Sc., Reg. CASLPO, Aud(C) - Director of Audiology, Musicians' Clinics of Canada. Whether attending one seminar or the entire series, professionals will have the opportunity to hear from industry leaders as they share the latest research findings in noise-induced hearing loss as well as gain practical information for clinical use.
Seminars will be held at noon Eastern and Pacific and all courses are CEU eligible.
