I hope you're enjoying the summer! Or maybe "you've enjoyed" is in order if you work at a university and are heading back for the fall semester. In either case, here are a few highlights from our fall lineup on AudiologyOnline to get you ready for the season ahead.

Clinical Instruction, Precepting and Supervision

The author of this month's 20Q with Gus Mueller CEU article is Dr. Virginia Ramachandran, discussing the topic of clinical instruction and precepting. Dr. Ramachandran is a senior staff audiologist at Henry Ford Health System and is on the faculty at Wayne State University, where she coordinates the clinical education experiences of the audiology students. The article contains many considerations that I think will apply to audiologists who manage and supervise in any capacity. I also found it informative regarding educational standards and the accreditation of audiology programs. Access the 20Q here.

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Series

Last month's Noise-Induced Hearing Loss webinar series provided insights into working with professional listeners: musicians, music industry professionals and music enthusiasts. Dr. Brian Fligor invited presenters who work directly with this population to share evidence, clinical tips and guide us through the portfolio of options available for the specific listening needs of this group. He also presented a course based on his years of work with music industry artists and bands. All of the courses in the series are now available on demand: View here.

Apps for Audiologists

Our August series is underway, addressing the use of smart devices and apps for clinical work in audiology. This is an emerging area that is changing our work in new and exciting ways. Check out the course listings and register now for one or more courses. Thanks to Dr. Sam Atcherson for organizing these courses and presenting last week's webinar to introduce the topic and kick off the series.

ICD-10 One-Hour CEU Course

ICD-10 is on everyone's mind now that the October 1 deadline is right around the corner. We have a one-hour CEU course available in both recorded and text formats that is straightforward, practical and provides you with further resources should you need them. We invite you to view the recorded course or read the text course at your convenience. Thanks to Dr. Kim Cavitt, our billing and coding guru, for all of her time and dedication in keeping us up to date on billing, coding, reimbursement and regulatory issues.

As always, thank you for being a part of AudiologyOnline! Please feel free to contact me directly at any time with comments and suggestions.

Cheers,

Carolyn
