Dear Colleague:
Greetings and Happy Holidays! The Audiology Awareness Campaign's (AAC) goal is to make "Audiology" a household word linked inextricably with "quality" in the public's mind.
For those of you who provided support in the past, we thank you for your efforts and accomplishments.
Notable AAC accomplishments to date include:
- As a 501(c)3 'not for profit; foundation, AAC initiated a national media campaign
Over 140 newspaper and magazine articles have been published generating over 5,000 calls from over 400 cities nationally. - A consumer website www.audiologyawareness.com
The website provided over 29,000 successful requests for information in one month. - A consumer toll-free hotline (888-833-EARS)
The 5,000 calls (above) initiated requests for "...an audiologist in my area." - Office and advertising printed materials (Listen Up America...we hear you!)
- "Get on the right track-Protect Your Hearing" NASCAR events with NASCAR driver, Dave Marcis (#71) and Richard Petty as the NASCAR spokespersons. We have developed 2 PSAs and arranged for local audiologists in 8 cities to be interviewed on television, radio, and newspaper.
- AAC was interviewed on CNN Headline News-promoting the value of hearing health care by audiologists.
- Provided hearing protection to World Trade Center Relief Workers.
- AAC partnered with GN Resound's Elmo and the HearLeaders to distribute earplugs during Superbowl XXXV in Tampa, Florida.
- AAC arranged for audiologists to speak at 27 National Youth Leadership Forum conventions in 2003 and distributed information and gave out free earplugs and Listen Up America Booklets to high school seniors from around the country. Over 10,000 students attended these meetings in 2003.
"Audiologists-Caring for America's Hearing" logo and "Listen Up,
America...we hear you!" slogan
AAC has distributed 10,000 booklets to consumers.
AAC has additional initiatives in planning stages. However, we continue to need audiologist contributions to make plans a reality! In return for your support, we will include your practice listing on the AAC website, providing you with direct, tangible benefits. People accessing the website for information are poised to act. If you're listed on the site, they're more likely to contact you. You can give the extra little added "nudge" by participating in a discount program in which you offer $100 off the purchase of each digital instrument with a printable certificate from the website.
Please act today by sending your contribution of $100 for one year listing, or $200 for 3 years, and include the name and contact information for your practice. If you do not have a practice to advertise, please join us with as generous a contribution as possible to further the work of promoting the profession. The AAC is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit foundation and contributions are tax-deductible. Take advantage of this deduction in 2003, by contributing by December 31, 2003.
ACT TODAY and DON'T DELAY
Thank you for your support.
Wishing you much satisfaction and success in your personal life as well as with your practice,
