Lafayette, IN - Recipients of the 2004-2005 Audiology Foundation of America's (AFA) Outstanding Au.D. Student Scholarships were honored during ceremonies held at their universities. Winners included second year Au.D. students Alison Bruns and Brooke Schoeffler from Ball State University and the University of Florida, respectively, and third year Au.D students Christopher Spankovich, Rush University and Cristin Guiher, Towson University. Representatives of the AFA presented otoscopes to all third year Au.D. students who attended the ceremonies.

The AFA recently sent letters to Au.D. program directors requesting nominations for the 2005-2006 Outstanding Second and Third Year Au.D. Student Scholarships.

The AFA was proud to sponsor White Coat Ceremonies for students in five Au.D. programs this Fall. Ceremonies were held at Bloomsburg University, Gallaudet University, the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium, the University of Louisville and the University of Pittsburgh. This is similar to other doctoring professions that begin shaping professional attitudes of students via white coat ceremonies.

"The AFA is very pleased to support the education and professional development of these students through scholarships and the presentation of white coats and otoscopes, two of the basic tools for a Doctor of Audiology," according to AFA Executive Director, Susan B. Paarlberg.
