Au.D. Graduates Honored for Professional Leadership

Lafayette, IN - Two graduates of the Au.D. program at Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS) were honored by the Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) during an awards ceremony on March 12, 2004. Catherine Comstock Au.D. and Marshall Chasin, Au.D. received AFA Professional Leadership Awards.

Dr. Comstock was recognized for outstanding service to her community as an advocate and advisor to SHHH, Cleft Palate Support Group, and Rotary International; as well as her leadership within the Au.D. program at Arizona School of Health Sciences.

Dr. Chasin was honored for significant research and educational efforts in preventing noise exposure, hearing loss, and tinnitus; specifically focused on musicians and performing artists.



AFA Advisory Committee member, Nancy Green, Au.D., who is also on the ASHS faculty, presented Dr. Comstock with a certificate of recognition. Dr. Chasin was unable to attend the ceremony.



AFA Director, Tom Morris, Au.D. presented three graduates of Pennsylvania College of Optometry, School of Audiology with AFA Professional Leadership Awards at their May graduation ceremony.

Tomi Thibodeaux Brown, Au.D. was honored for her tireless efforts in promoting autonomy and political action on behalf of the profession of audiology.



John Mascia, Au.D. was recognized for his many scholarly publications integrating the professions of audiology and optometry in service to hearing and vision impaired older adults.

Nancy Ann Mascia, Au.D. received the award in recognition of her scholarly publications educating others to improve audiological assessments of deaf-blind patients

"I commend these Doctors of Audiology for their extraordinary professional leadership and congratulate them and their fellow graduates for being an integral part of the transformation of audiology to a doctoring profession," stated AFA Chair Kenneth L. Lowder, Au.D.
