Rockville, MD - September 21, 2012- For the second consecutive year, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has been named one of the healthiest employers in the Washington, DC, area by the Washington Business Journal (WBJ). ASHA was awarded 4th place among employers with 250 to 499 employees in recognition of its programs and efforts to improve the health and wellness of its staff.

This is the 2nd year that the WBJ has honored the most outstanding health and wellness programs and work environments implemented by local companies. Because of its commitment to employees' health, ASHA will be profiled, along with other winners, in the Washington Business Journal on newsstands today.

"We are honored to be selected as one of Washington's healthiest employers," said ASHA Chief Executive Officer Arlene A. Pietranton, PhD, CAE. "This ranking means a great deal because of our steadfast commitment to the overall health and wellness of our employees. It is our belief and observation that when our employees are healthy and well, they are better able to serve the needs of our members."
