Proceeds to Support Foundation's Research and Education Programs

Rockville, MD - August 4, 2010- For the 13th year, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation is hosting a charity golf benefit. All event proceeds will support the organization's research and education programs.

Hosted at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate on January 29-30, 2011, complete foursomes registering and paying before September 15 will receive an early-bird discount of $50 off the price per player.

The ASHFoundation's benefit golf tournament matches a touring professional from the Ladies Professional Golf Association with each foursome in a best-ball scramble format. The event also features a shotgun start, cash payouts for players at all levels, a car for the first hole-in-one, and prizes for golf flights.

"Since its inception, the golf benefit has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for research and education to support future audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists," says Tournament Chair and trustee Rick Talbott, PhD, CCC-A. "We hope that this year's benefit will be our most successful in our history."

Corporate sponsors also have the opportunity to be a part of the charity golf benefit and support the professions. Sponsorship opportunities from $1,000 to $20,000 are available, with all sponsors recognized nationally for their philanthropic investment.

"This event shows the strong commitment that our generous donors and sponsors have to building the professions," says ASHFoundation President Nancy Creaghead, PhD, CCC-SLP. "We are proud that this charity golf benefit has been a financial springboard to help advance knowledge for the field and improve care and treatment for individuals with hearing, speech, and language problems."
