New Jersey, November 3, 2005 - Siemens Hearing Instruments is launching ARTIS™, a new family of higher-end mid-range digital hearing instruments. ARTIS assists Hearing Care Professionals in delivering higher-end features, such as 12-channel digital noise management, automatic, adaptive directional microphones, and high-speed phase cancellation feedback management, with economical savings to their most selective patients.
The fitting philosophy behind ARTIS provides Hearing Care Professionals the flexibility to fit patients based on their hearing needs and audiograms. ARTIS offers an exceptionally flexible frequency shaping adjustment and compression system for fitting both typical and unusual shaped audiograms. All ARTIS instruments feature 12-channel signal processing with gain adjustment possible in all twelve channels. Professionals can also adjust compression kneepoints, ratios and temporal characteristics in four frequency regions.
ARTIS features digital noise reduction and speech enhancement in 12 independent channels. For individuals with hearing loss, the ability to understand speech in the presence of competing background noises is critical to a better hearing experience. ARTIS directional models feature an automatic, multi-channel adaptive directional microphone system that reduces multiple moving noise sources for better speech understanding in dynamic listening environments. Its long term stability is achieved through automatic phase and amplitude matching.
Because an effective feedback management system is extremely important to wearers regardless of the technology level, ARTIS features a high-speed feedback cancellation system that constantly analyzes incoming signals and continuously reacts to avoid any feedback. Its phase cancellation system preserves critical high frequency amplification that is important to speech understanding.
Available on select ARTIS BTE (Behind-the-Ear) and custom models is AutoPhone, enabling wearers to experience easier, more comfortable listening on the telephone. AutoPhone automatically switches to a telephone or telecoil program when used with hearing instrument compatible telephones.
For patients with binaural fitting needs, ARTIS is available with e2e (ear-to-ear) wireless™ for synchronization of the directional microphone systems, which ensures the best possible localization and directivity. e2e wireless also offers the convenience of one-touch control, allowing the wearer to adjust both instruments with the touch of one button. Even more control and convenience is available with the optional ePocket™ remote control.
To meet the cosmetic and ergonomic demands of more patients, ARTIS is available in a variety of custom and BTE (Behind-the-Ear) configurations. ARTIS custom and BTE models come in a selection of colors that blend naturally with a range of skin tones, while ARTIS BTE models can also match individual style with additional fashionable colors such as silver, black and translucent fun colors. The ARTIS BTE product family also includes ARTIS Life, a sleek open fit BTE design that is virtually invisible when worn. There is no visible earhook or controls, just ultra-thin tubing that easily adapts to the instrument. Soft non-occluding LifeTips are available in multiple sizes.
Also new, ARTIS BTEs feature nanocoated housings, a new innovation that repels water, sweat and other adherents to prevent corrosion and improve reliability.
