The Arizona Attorney General Office's Civil Rights Division and Cinemark Holdings, Inc. recently settled a lawsuit filed by the Civil Rights Division in June 2011, to obtain neckloop assistive listening devices in Cinemark's Arizona theaters that will accommodate customers who are hard of hearing and deaf and use cochlear implants and hearing aids with telecoil (t-coil) technology. Cinemark agreed effective June 30, to equip its six Arizona theaters with neckloops and receivers. In addition, Cinemark agreed to track the demand for neckloops and obtain more equipment, if necessary, to meet customer demand. This is an exciting development that is hoped to serve as a catalyst for theaters and other entertainment venues nationwide to install audioloops.
