Audiology Systems University completes 2-day workshop for Doctor of Audiology students from universities across the United States
Schaumburg, IL May 16, 2018 – Otometrics/Audiology Systems recently completed its 4th Annual Audiology Systems University (ASIu). The two-day educational event was introduced in 2015 as an exclusive invitation-only workshop. The 2018 Audiology Systems University (ASIu) opened the application process to all students completing a Doctorate of Audiology degree in the United States. At the conclusion of its 2018 workshop, Otometrics/Audiology Systems has collectively hosted close to 100 students since its first inaugural class.
ASIu Class of 2018 included close to 30 students from Bloomsburg University, Central Michigan University, CUNY, Long Island AuD Consortium, Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University, University of Arkansas, University of Cincinnati, University of Massachusetts - Amherst, University of North Texas, University of Puerto Rico, University of South Florida, and Western Michigan University.
Event highlights included two guest speakers, who not only presented their background and journey in the audiology profession, but also led hands-on workshops. Kristin Janky, AuD/PhD, director of vestibular services at Boystown National Research Hospital, facilitated a three-part presentation on why and how she obtained her PhD, how to diagnose vestibular disorders with the ICS® Impulse and a hands-on session on video head impulse testing (vHIT). Wendy Switalski, MBA/AuD facilitated a four-hour workshop which covered best practices regarding hearing aid verification.
The panel of audiologists included ASIu 2018 Coordinators Brianna Young, AuD, Global Product Manager, Hearing Assessment; and Jeanette Fitzke, AuD, Field Clinical Trainer. The panel also featured Mona Dworsack-Dodge, AuD, Director of Global Product Management, Hearing Assessment; Kathleen Hill AuD, Education and Training Manager, Maggie Boorazanes, AuD, Global Product Manager for Balance; as well as US Field Clinical Specialist/Audiologists Keeley Moore, MA and Melissa Lebon, AuD.
According to Stephanie B., one of the attendees, “I really enjoyed the topics presented. Probe Microphone Measurement (PMM) and vestibular testing are gaps in many graduate programs. So, I appreciated the depth of information provided at the workshop.”
In addition to this annual student-focused workshop, Otometrics/Audiology Systems offers a range of course offerings for audiologists and hearing care professionals throughout the year—including courses approved for Tier 1 AAA CEUs.
