Joint donation to benefit children with hearing loss in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Stafa, Switzerland (November 2008) - Hear the World, a global non-profit initiative created by hearing system manufacturer Phonak to raise awareness about the topic of hearing and hearing loss, today announced a donation of 20,000 CHF ($18,000 USD) to The Bryan Adams Foundation. The Hear the World donation will be used to support F.A.N.D.A (Fundación de Ayuda al Niño Discapacitado Auditivo), a Buenos Aires-based non-profit organization developed to assist low-income families of children with hearing loss.
The Bryan Adams Foundation, launched in 2006 by famed musician, photographer and phianthropist, Bryan Adams, has joined with the Hear the World Foundation to select F.A.N.D.A as its most recent grant recipient to further expand its mission to support the quality of life for people around the world. With the donation, F.A.N.D.A will be able to provide more children of low-income families with hearing tests, as well as much-needed hearing devices and auditory therapy.
"Bryan has always demonstrated a passion for helping the global community and we are pleased that he shares our mission to assist people with hearing loss in Argentina," said Valentin Chapero, CEO of Phonak and Hear the World Foundation board member. "Since the launch of Hear the World, it has been our goal to support people with hearing loss from all corners of the world. Together with F.A.N.D.A and The Bryan Adams Foundation, today we are able to extend the reach or the work we do in South America."
"F.A.N.D.A very much appreciates the Bryan Adams and Hear the World Foundations for their indisputable generosity in helping F.A.N.D.A for the care and assistance of deaf children from very low income families in Argentina and many other countries in South America," said Gina Romano, president of F.A.N.D.A.
The partnership is not the first collaboration between Mr. Adams and Hear the World. The famed musician currently serves as the official photographer for the hearing awareness initiative, capturing images of famous musicians including Mick Jagger, Amy Winehouse, Plácido Domingo and many others in a conscious pose of "hearing." Most recently, the photographs were featured in a Hear the World Ambassadors art exhibition that traveled to New York, Berlin and Zurich earlier this year.
