The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and member audiologist Lee Soo Hoo recently were invited to participate in the Sandbox Summit, a project of Parents' Choice Foundation that focused on technology and young children at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV, January 7-10. At CES, ASHA promoted its award winning campaign, America: Tuned In Today . . . But Tuned Out Tomorrow? and web site www.listentoyourbuds.org. Both focus on educating young children, parents, and educators about safe usage of personal audio technology such as MP3 players and similar devices. The CES show attracted more than 140,000 attendees, 25,000 of whom were from abroad.
