(Reston, VA -- March 15, 2005) - The American Academy of Audiology will offer a free seminar on hearing loss and balance disorders to local residents of the Washington, DC area. This marks the fourth year that the Academy has presented a full morning workshop on hearing loss to consumers coinciding with the Academy's Annual Convention and Expo. Consumers and members of the press are invited to attend the workshop on Saturday, April 2 from 9:00 am until noon at the Renaissance Hotel, 999 Ninth Street, NW in Congressional Ballroom A and B. A panel of prominent local audiologists will be on hand to guide a series of four mini presentations plus an "Ask the Expert" question and answer session. This year's topics include: Assistive Listening Devices in Everyday Living presented by Cindy Compton, PhD; Hearing Aids on the Internet: Is this an Option for You? presented by Teri Cygnarowicz, MS and Ruth Marin, MA; Reducing Noise Exposure in Everyday Activities presented by COL John Allen, PhD; Balance and Dizziness Issues presented by Holly Burrows, AuD; and concludes with an open question and answer session with all of our speakers.
