Share:

The board of directors of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) today announced the resignation of Alexander T. Graham, who has served as executive director and CEO of AG Bell and the AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language for the past six years. Graham will assume the position of executive director of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), a nonprofit association in Arlington, Va., in mid-October.

“Alexander T. Graham joined AG Bell at a critical juncture and has demonstrated exemplary leadership in moving the organization forward. Alex has guided AG Bell to become a comprehensive resource for information and support for children and adults with hearing loss, their families and the professionals that support them,” said Donald M. Goldberg, Ph.D., CCC-SLP/A, FAAA, LSLS Cert. AVT, AG Bell president. “We wish Alex well in his new endeavors and are grateful for his dedication, hard work and leadership of AG Bell.”

Graham leaves AG Bell with a solid management track record for delivering high-quality member products and services while diversifying and increasing funding. During his tenure, Graham worked with the volunteer leadership and staff to introduce the revised Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS®) credential, expand services to youth and families, increase membership participation from professionals and launch the Listening and Spoken Language Knowledge Center, an innovative web-based service delivery model.

“It has been an honor to serve the association, its members and volunteer leadership. My tenure at AG Bell has been a remarkable and rewarding experience both personally and professionally. In all my time as an association professional, I have never felt such a strong bond to an organization and the people who make it such a special place,” Graham said.

The AG Bell Board of Directors will name an interim executive director and finalize a transition plan for recruiting an executive director to guide the organization going forward.
