California audiologist Susan Clark has won the second of three 2007 Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) postcard scholarships to pursue Au.D. distance education. Widex sponsored the postcard and Clark's $1,000 scholarship.
Clark is a school-based audiologist for ABC Unified School District in Cerritos, CA, and will soon begin the distance education Au.D. program at the Arizona School of Health Sciences.
"I love working with children," said Clark. "The diverse hearing-impaired population requires up-to-date knowledge and some creativity. Each child has his or her own auditory and educational needs. The Au.D. is an exciting adventure for me. I am so appreciative for this opportunity to implement what I will learn from the Au.D. program to better meet the needs of the students and their families."
The AFA is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 to lead audiology's transition to a doctoring profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator. Scholarship programs such as these help further its commitment to fostering the education and training of audiologists to meet the needs of those with impaired hearing.
