Make plans now to be part of the AFA events at ADA this November. Jackpot! AFA Auction 2008 will be held on Friday, November 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Del Mar room of the Green Valley Ranch Resort in Las Vegas. Auction items include a week's vacation in a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, an HD flat screen TV, a Nintendo Wii gaming system, framed photographs, paintings, jewelry and much more. The event will raise money to support the AFA's mission to champion autonomy and independence for audiologists. Auction refreshments will be sponsored in part by Auricle Ink and Phonak.
The AFA's second event, in conjunction with ADA, will be a go-kart racing event at Las Vegas's Pole Position Raceway on Saturday, November 8, from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Pole Position Raceway is one of America's fastest indoor go-kart racetracks, and this event will give you the opportunity to race in teams against friends and colleagues. Other activities at the venue include arcade games, pool tables and more. Transportation will be provided, including drop-off locations at both the Green Valley Ranch Resort and the Las Vegas Strip.
Be sure also to visit the AFA at booth #219 at the ADA convention in Las Vegas. In a new pilot program, the AFA will also be expanding its traditional Student Mentoring Program to encompass an entire day-ahead student track for third- and fourth-year Au.D. students. This programming will focus on private practice and practice management skills with real-world input from independently practicing Doctors of Audiology.
