During 2003, the AFA has participated in nineteen state and national conventions. Representatives of the organization have given presentations on professionalism, the Au.D. transition and model licensure for audiology.
Most recently, AFA Directors Ken Lowder, Au.D. and Bob Gippin, Esq. spoke to members of the National Council of State Boards of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Their presentation entitled, "The Legal Framework for a Doctoring Profession" gave an overview of the model licensure statute for audiology that was co-developed by the AFA and ADA. The AFA also participated in the National Conference on Academic Advising where they provided educational materials about the audiology profession and the Au.D. degree to academic advisors from across the country.
