AFA Offers Student Grants to Attend ADA Convention

Share:

Lafayette, IN - Beginning May 1, the Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) will begin accepting applications for student grants to attend the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) convention as part of the AFA's Student Mentoring Program. The convention will be held this year in Orlando, FL, from Oct. 10-13, 2007.

The grants are available to 3rd or 4th year students (as of Fall 2007) in four-year Au.D. programs. To be eligible, a Student Mentoring Grant application form and accompanying materials must be submitted to the AFA by August 3, 2007. Grant winners will participate in onsite mentoring program activities and receive paid convention registration and sleeping rooms at The Peabody Hotel in Orlando. Most meals will also be provided.

"This is a great opportunity for Au.D. students to meet some of the country's most successful private practitioners," said AFA Executive Director Susan Paarlberg. "The Student Mentoring Program is set up to encourage networking and allow students to make personal connections with practitioners who have already begun the professional journey the students are about to begin. The courses offered at the ADA convention will broaden the students' education, with a strong emphasis on private practice development and management."

The AFA has developed this program, in conjunction with the ADA ("Home of the Au.D."), to further its commitment to fostering the education and training of future audiologists. For more information on this program, or to download the application, please visit the AFA's scholarship page.

The AFA is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 to lead audiology's transition to a doctoring profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator.
