AFA Offers Student Grants to Attend ADA Convention

Share:
Lafayette, IN - The Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) is now offering grants to students to attend the upcoming Academy of Dispensing Audiologists (ADA) convention in Scottsdale, AZ, from Oct. 11-15, 2006, and participate in a student mentoring program.

The grants are available to 3rd or 4th year students (as of Fall 2006) in four-year Au.D. programs. To be eligible, a Student Mentoring Grant application form and accompanying materials must be submitted to the AFA by July 12, 2006. Grant winners will participate in onsite mentoring program activities and receive paid convention registration and sleeping rooms at the Fairmont Princess convention hotel. Most meals will also be provided.

"This is a great opportunity for Au.D. students to meet some of the premier private practitioners in a setting that will allow for networking and making personal connections for potential career opportunities," said AFA Executive Director Susan Paarlberg. "The courses offered at the ADA convention will broaden the students' education, particularly in the areas of practice development and management."

The AFA has developed this program, in conjunction with the ADA ("Home of the Au.D."), to further its commitment to fostering the education and training of future audiologists. For more information on this program, or to download the application, please visit www.audfound.org/files/Student_Mentoring_Application_ADA.pdf.

The AFA is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 to lead audiology's transition to a doctoring profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator. Its vision includes the goal of changing state licensure to incorporate the Au.D. as the basic criteria for practice.
