AFA Honors PCO Graduates

Lafayette, IN - Three graduates of Pennsylvania College of Optometry, School of Audiology received Audiology Foundation of America Professional Leadership Awards during the May 24, 2003 graduation ceremony. The awards, presented by Dr. Anthony Di Stefano, Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs, were given to Rita Chaiken, Au.D., Robert DiSogra, Au.D., and Kathy Foltner, Au.D. They were part of a class of 94 graduates.
Dr. Chaiken was recognized for her presentations at national, state and local meetings, which have served to expand the scope of practice in the area of cerumen management for all audiologists.
Dr. DiSogra was honored for his presentations on the topics of pharmacology and ototoxicity at local, state and national conventions, which have helped expand audiology's scope of practice.
Dr. Foltner received the award as a result of her persistent efforts to see that professional audiology services are in included in the majority of national insurance benefit plans affecting nearly one third of all Americans.
"The AFA commends these Doctors of Audiology for their extraordinary professional leadership and congratulates them and their fellow graduates for being an integral part of the transformation of audiology to a doctoring profession," states AFA Executive Director Susan Paarlberg.
