During the PCO spring graduation ceremony, the AFA honored Dr. Cydney Fox as its Professional Leadership Award recipient. Dr. Fox was recognized for her years of professional leadership activities in the state of California, her work as director of the Tracy Family Hearing Center in Los Angeles, and her passion and commitment to the education and service of hearing-impaired children and adults.
In a May graduation ceremony, the University of Florida bestowed the AFA award on Dr. Patricia Castellanos de Munoz. Dr. Castellanos de Munoz was honored for her work to bring audiologic care to the people of Guatemala, her leadership in creating an annual workshop series for Guatemalan parents to learn about the audiological and educational options available for their hearing-impaired children, and her dedication to, and promotion of, humanitarian audiology.
The AFA is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 to lead audiology's transition to a doctoring profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator.-
