AFA Director's Husband Remembered with Student Scholarship

Share:
Lafayette, IN -Dr. Ray Kilcoyne, a renowned radiologist at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, died Aug. 8 at age 69. His wife of almost 30 years, Claire Kilcoyne, Au.D., is an audiologist in Denver.

A scholarship was set up in name of Dr. Ray Kilcoyne through the Audiology Foundation of America (AFA). The scholarship will help pay for the education of a future Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.). Dr. Kilcoyne's husband was a strong supporter while she earned her Au.D., and would be happy to have a Au.D. scholarship in his name, she said.

The Kilcoynes were married in 1977, and moved to Colorado 15 years ago. Though retired, Dr. Kilcoyne still put in hours at the hospital doing the work he loved. He specialized in skeletal radiology and is well-known for his work and contributions to teleradiology, MRI research and the development of a scale for marking degeneration of bones and joints in hemophilia patients. Dr. Kilcoyne also enjoyed many hobbies including building and playing the harpsichord, fixing old radios, rebuilding old cars and volunteering at the Golden Railroad Museum.

The AFA gratefully acknowledges the contributions of donors to this scholarship fund. Donations are still being accepted through the AFA, 8 North Third St., Suite 406, Lafayette, IN 47901, www.audfound.org.

The AFA is a non-profit foundation founded in 1989 to lead audiology's transition to a doctoring profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator.
