Dr. Kenneth L. Lowder was presented with the Leo Doerfler Award for Clinical Practice Excellence at the Academy of Dispensing Audiologists' (ADA) Convention in Sanibel Harbor, Florida on October 9, 2003. He is the first recipient of this award that was named in honor of the founding president of ADA.
Dr. Lowder has owned and operated the Iowa Audiology and Hearing Center in Coralville, IA since 1981. In addition to serving as the chair of the Audiology Foundation of America, he is also chair of the Iowa Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology Examiners. In the past, Lowder served as president of the Iowa Association of Hearing Health Professionals, and Hearing Aid Management Systems, a private practice business development and practice enhancement association.
As a member of the first graduating class of the University of Florida's distance learning Au.D. program, he received his Doctor of Audiology degree in 2000.
Dr. Lowder has contributed significantly to the audiology profession and the Directors of the Audiology Foundation of America congratulate him for receiving this prestigious award.
