Lafayette, IN -The Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) will be holding the "Conference on Professional Education II: Positioning Audiology for the 21st Century" on October 4-5 in Mesa, AZ. The conference is intended as a 20-year review of Au.D. education with an eye toward determining future goals and improving current models of Au.D. education delivery.
Selected guests will be invited to attend and participate in the conference, with the intention of gathering both Au.D. program directors and recent graduates. A professional facilitator will guide the dialogue so representatives can work together to detail needed changes and positive outcomes. There will also be representatives from professional organizations, as well as special guests and a keynote speaker.
Co-sponsors to date include ReSound, Widex, the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), A.T. Still University - the Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS), Ball State University, Central Michigan University, the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium, and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry's School of Audiology (PCO). Other Au.D. schools are also being invited to co-sponsor and participate.
The AFA is a non-profit foundation whose mission is to empower audiologists to be independent and autonomous practitioners by supporting their educational preparation, professional practice and leadership development.
