Adrian DavisThe national charity Action on Hearing Loss has appointed world leading hearing health academic Professor Adrian Davis OBE as its new Vice President.

Professor Davis was the driving force and developer of the England’s NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme and has been the principle investigator into numerous defining studies into hearing, tinnitus, noise, balance and rhinology in adults and children.

Now retired from full time employment with Public Health England and the NHS, Professor Davis is still very active and influential on topics around public health and hearing loss.

Action on Hearing Loss Chief Executive Paul Breckell said: “We’re delighted to have Professor Davis on board as Vice President. He has dedicated his academic career to helping people living with deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss, having spearheaded the hugely important Newborn Hearing Screening Programme we campaigned for and been at the forefront of research.

“As a charity we have worked closely with him for a number of years I know his knowledge, influence and experience will be a huge asset.”

Professor Davis said: “It is a great honour and privilege to be asked to be Vice President of Action on Hearing Loss. Not only do they provide a fantastic voice for people who have a hearing loss, they are acting to ensure that these people benefit from scientific and technical advances and get the wider support that they need throughout the life-course. I look forward to working closely with Action of Hearing Loss to ensure that the outcomes for people with hearing loss are the best they can be, the best in the world! ”
