The American Cochlear Implant Alliance announces that it will hold CI 2013 in Washington, DC in October 2013. “Emerging Trends in Cochlear Implantation” will begin on a Thursday at 1:00 pm and end on Saturday at 12 Noon. CI 2013 conference chair Dr. Craig Buchman and colleagues from the ACI Alliance have invited expert speakers from across the treatment continuum—otologists, audiologists, and (re)habilitative clinicians and/or educators of deaf children to explore the following topics:
- Hearing Preservation
- Implantation of Very Young Children
- Implanting Multiply Involved Children
- Cochlear Implants in Single-Sided Deafness
- Hearing and General Health Outcomes in Elderly Patients
- Telehealth and Cochlear Implantation
Topical discussions will examine research findings and gaps, patient outcomes, and cost effectiveness implications.
Each day will begin with a one-hour general session to explore cochlear implantation from a range of public policy perspectives with participation by elected and appointed officials involved in health care.
“ACI Alliance on the Hill” will be held Thursday morning. Conference participants are encouraged to arrive prior to the Opening Session to participate in arranged meetings with their elected representatives in Washington DC. Meetings will be designed to increase understanding of cochlear implants and the societal impacts of the intervention.
More details, including the specific October (Thursday-Saturday) timeframe for CI 2013, will be announced in mid February at https://www.acialliance.org.
