Share:
Held October 19 - 22, 2006 in Louisville, Kentucky. This year's conference theme is: Honoring our Past and Preparing for our Future Celebrating 40 Years of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology. To celebrate the 40th anniversary two past ARA presidents will be the featured speakers. Dr. Julia Davis (President 1980) will talk about the history and the future of pediatric audiologic habilitation. Dr. Jean-Pierre Gagné (President 1996) will focus on the past, present and future of adult audiologic rehabilitation.

The meeting will be held at the beautiful and historic Seelbach Hilton Hotel. Legend has it that F. Scott Fitzgerald enjoyed his stays at the Seelbach and used the hotel as the backdrop for Tom and Daisy Buchanan's wedding in The Great Gatsby. The hotel is located downtown in easy walking distance to museums, art galleries, restaurants and nightlife. Most visitors know Louisville for the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Kentucky Derby Museum. Two recent additions to the museum scene are the Muhammad Ali Center and the Frazier Historical Arms Museum.

Individuals interested in sharing their research or model clinical programs in audiologic rehabilitation are invited to submit a podium presentation. Submissions are due by May 1, 2006.

ARA has a commitment to support new investigators and encourages students to apply for the prestigious Herbert J. Oyer Award. The student selected to receive the award will present their research at the ARA Institute and submit the work for publication in the Journal of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology. The award recipient will receive registration to the 2006 ARA Institute and a financial award of $1000.00. The submission deadline for the Oyer Award is June 2, 2006.
