Cheryl Kreider Carey, who holds the CAE (Certified Association Executive), has served on the national office staff since 1999, first as Convention Director, then as Deputy Executive Director (Convention, Exposition and Education) beginning in 2001. For the past 11 months, Ms. Carey has served as the Interim Executive Director. Her passions include promoting the profession of audiology in the eyes of the public, assisting volunteers in forming strategic partnerships, facilitating the development of the volunteer-staff team and directing the national office staff. Ms. Carey is poised to continue and expand her work with the volunteer leadership and membership to advance the science and technology of audiology, and to promote the largest organization in the world of, by and for audiologists: the American Academy of Audiology.
The Search Committee, headed by President-Elect Patrick Feeney, worked for over five months to determine the best candidate for this important position. From an initial group of over 60 applicants, the committee selected the top ten candidates for initial interviews. Four candidates were selected for second interviews, and two finalists were brought before the board for the final interviews and subsequent vote.
