The Academy and ASHA are working together to build support for HR 2821/ S 1647, the Hearing Health Accessibility Act, to allow Medicare beneficiaries the option of going directly to a physician or audiologist for hearing and balance services. A joint letter signed by the Presidents of both organizations is being hand-delivered to Capitol Hill today.
Audiologists need to continue efforts to build support for direct access through contacting your Members of Congress to cosponsor the legislation. Sample letters are available on the web page noted above.
Academy members are also encouraged to make personal donations to the American Academy of Audiology, Inc. PAC. Personal checks may be mailed to: AAA, Inc. PAC, 11730 Plaza America Drive, Suite 300, Reston, VA 20190. These donations are critical to building support and increasing the momentum for our direct access legislation.
