As you may already know, AARP has announced that it is endorsing the Hearing Aid Tax Credit (H.R. 1646/S. 1019). AARP represents 40 million people age 50 and older, and is the largest and one of the most influential membership organizations in the country. Various members of the hearing health community have been urging AARP to endorse the legislation for several years, and the endorsement follows in the wake of a meeting earlier this year between representatives of AARP, HLAA, IHS and HIA. The Hearing Aid Tax Credit now has 109 House and 7 Senate co-sponsors, and we are hopeful that Congress will consider it as part of tax reform when it reviews the expiring 2001/2003 tax cuts, if not before.
