Rock Hard, Bid Big, and Give Back: Collection of Signed Guitars from Dave Matthews, Jewel, Bob Weir, and Others, Available During Auction 4 Audiology 2011

Reston, VA-February 18, 2011 - The American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF) will auction a one-of-a-kind collection of signed guitars and other music memorabilia to benefit music and hearing research in its annual online Auction 4 Audiology. The auction items will be on display during the AudiologyNOW!® convention in Chicago, and online bidding is open from March 28-April 9, 2011. Bidders can register and preview items at www.biddingforgood.com/auction4audiology beginning March 1.

Since 2005, the AAAF has received hundreds of fabulous auction items from the hearing health industry, AudiologyNOW! host cities, and generous audiologists. Among the many items available this April is an exclusive cache of music memorabilia collected and donated by AAAF board member, Michael Santucci, AuD. Dr. Santucci is president and founder of Sensaphonics Hearing Conservation, makers of custom in-ear monitors for hundreds of touring musicians. He has dedicated his career in audiology to hearing loss prevention for musicians and music industry personnel.

This Martin acoustic guitar with original artwork by Dave Matthews is the featured item in the AAAF Auction 4 Audiology.

Auction 4 Audiology 2011 will offer a variety of one-of-a-kind collectibles, including Fender electric guitars signed by Jewel, Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, O.A.R., REO Speedwagon, Styx, and Steve Winwood. The collection is highlighted by three particularly rare pieces: a framed Coldplay gold record, signed by the band;a Zildjian cymbal signed by the Dave Matthews Band (DMB);and a one-of-a-kind Martin acoustic guitar with hand-drawn original artwork by Dave Matthews. Matthews, whose artwork graces the cover of the band's latest studio album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, is a big believer in hearing conservation. The chance to own a piece of his original art on a beautiful Martin guitar is a phenomenal opportunity for any DMB fan.

"These items all come from artists who understand the importance of hearing health," Santucci states. "Once they became aware of the cause, they were happy to sign an item for the AAA Foundation. I am honored to have their support in advancing important research into hearing loss prevention."

Audiologists and musician alike know and value healthy hearing;they both understand that good hearing health is invaluable. Since 2005, the AAA Foundation's annual auctions have raised tens of thousands of dollars to support audiology research and education, and have provided a fun way for those in the hearing health-care industry to give back to the profession of audiology. Visit Auction 4 Audiology to rock hard, bid big, and support this worthy cause!
