The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in collaboration with the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine of the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, will present the 2nd Annual Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) and Transnasal Esophagoscopy (TNE) Course on Saturday, December 13, 2003. The course is designed to provide otolaryngologists, nurses and speech pathologists with information and live demonstrations on the use of the transnasal esophagoscope for treatment of laryngopharyngeal reflux. We believe speech pathologists working in the fields of swallowing and voice disorders would find this course very worthwhile and educational.

The guest speaker is Jonathan E. Aviv, MD, Professor, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Columbia University, New York, New York, an expert in TNE and its clinical utility. University of Iowa faculty include Dr. Douglas Van Daele and Dr. Henry Hoffman, Co-Directors of the course, and of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery; and Dr. Satish Rao, Professor and Director of the Division of Neurogastroenterology and GI Motility in the Department of Internal Medicine.
