2006 AFA Practitioner Scholarships Now Available

Share:
Lafayette, IN -The Audiology Foundation of America (AFA) has created a new scholarship program in which up to 10 winners will receive a $1,000 distance education Au.D. scholarship. Funding for this new program has been provided through donations to the Audiology Foundation of America.

The 2006 AFA Practitioner Scholarship is open to audiology practitioners with at least four years of experience. To be eligible, an application form must be submitted by Nov. 1, 2006, and must also include a resume and essay. Once chosen, scholarship winners must enroll in a distance Au.D. program within six months - applicants may not be currently enrolled students. The scholarship will then be paid directly to the Au.D. program of choice.

The AFA has developed this program to further both its commitment to fostering the education and training of audiologists and its mission to transform audiology to a doctoring healthcare profession with the Au.D. as its unique designator.

"By January, 2007, only two distance education programs will be admitting new students, so the window of opportunity for practitioners to earn an Au.D. is closing," said AFA Executive Director Susan B. Paarlberg. "PCO's School of Audiology will accept its last distance education class at the end of December. The AFA is committed to fostering the transition to the Au.D., and practitioner scholarships helps move us toward that goal."
