Tools to Support Your Practice When Speaking About Cognition
Audiology Online: How does Phonak support cognition?
Alyssa Ricevuto, AuD, MBA: Cognition is a hot topic right now for us in the audiological space and it is important, at Phonak, to talk about cognition in a responsible manner. We believe that your hearing health matters so we’ve created tools on our learning portal to help support and guide your conversations around hearing loss and cognition. We want to provide and help you use our resources to educate and promote healthy living. However, we don’t want to frighten people into getting technology if they are not ready to begin that journey for themselves. For those that are ready to have these conversations, we have extensive research and evidence-based explanations on the relationship between hearing loss and cognition. Phonak also makes our high-quality research available online, open to share, and available to incorporate into your audiological clinical counseling.
Audiology Online: Where do you start to learn more?
Alyssa Ricevuto, AuD, MBA: The first place to start with Phonak and cognition is with continuing education opportunities. Depending on your preference for learning, we offer multiple options for gaining knowledge and deepening your understanding around cognition. There are self-guided trainings through our Phonak learning portal as well as webinars here on Audiology Online. Also, feel free to schedule an in-person training appointment with your Phonak Clinical Trainer by clicking here.
AudiologyOnline: What is the Phonak ECHHO Program?
Alyssa Ricevuto, AuD, MBA: It seems acronyms are everywhere. ECHHO is Phonak’s Enhancing Cognitive Health with Hearing Optimization (ECHHO) program. This program combines Phonak's in-office resources like brochures, posters, conversation starters, and displays, current study findings, and multi-modal training sessions so our Hearing Care Professionals can confidently and responsibly integrate the topic of cognition into daily discussions with patients, physicians, and other allied health professionals within their community.
AudiologyOnline: How can you promote cognition in your office?
Alyssa Ricevuto, AuD, MBA: Phonak has created a marketing toolkit to help you promote cognition in your office. For your practice, you can order patient brochures, a desktop display, and a framed poster. All of these tools are designed to provide greater awareness around cognition. You can also reach out to your Phonak representative. They can help you access other cognitive health information that Phonak has available to support the total audiological care of your patients.
AudiologyOnline: How can you promote cognition in your community?
Alyssa Ricevuto, AuD, MBA: Phonak has created two presentations to help support you and help market your practice to physicians and patients in your community. The Physician Marketing Presentation and the Community Seminar are designed to both build up a referral network and bring in new patients. These presentations are available and editable to allow you to customize your delivery and personalize them with your office logo and highlight who you are as a practitioner. The Phonak account marketing team is here to support you and can help you to deliver this experience or just give you the guidance on how to set up an event.
