In this episode, Dave sits down with Dr. Heather Snyder, Vice President of Medical and Scientific Affairs at the Alzheimer’s Association, to discuss the ongoing research into the connection between hearing loss and dementia. One of the latest studies, which found that treating hearing loss could mean reducing the risk of dementia, was released in The Lancet this spring. Real-ear measurements (REM) are considered hearing aid fitting best practice. There is a plethora of information on the benefits of real-ear measures; however, there is limited practical information on how the measurements are obtained. This introductory course will review the fundamentals of real-ear measurements using an Audioscan Verifit system. On-ear measurements using speechmapping will be demonstrated and discussed.

This course will examine available strategies to meet the needs of individuals with tinnitus, and approaches that may be utilized with Starkey Genesis AI hearing aids.
