An often overlooked, but nevertheless important aspect of professional hearing care is standardized electroacoustic analysis of hearing aid performance. This course will describe and overview standardized coupler measurement procedures and how and when they can be applied to maximize hearing aid performance and value.

The FDA OTC hearing aid ruling identifies a battery of electro-acoustic tests that the manufacturer of OTC products must complete on their devices and subsequently publish to help ensure consumer safety. This course will overview an OTC/DTC Test Suite developed by Audioscan that can be used by clinicians to administer this test battery on any OTC hearing aid and on other non-prescriptive hearing assistance products.

This course will discuss verification considerations unique to open and vented hearing instruments. Unique Audioscan verification technology that facilitates accurate and efficient open fitting verification on-ear and in the test box will be described and demonstrated.
