The VA's TeleAudiology programs has increased dramatically over the last 5 years, from 1,016 Veteran encounters in FY11 to more than 30,320 in FY2016. With the continued Veteran demand, as well as the expanded scope of various models, there is a need to continually provide the field with the most current and up-to-date information on all aspects of teleaudiology service delivery.

This course describes how a typical teleaudiology session is conducted to fit hearing aids.

This course will describe the validation of a digital telehealth tool for adults. The tool provides self-assessment andintervention for cognitive and physical impairments.

This course will provide an overview of why telepractice is needed for clinical service delivery for cochlear implant (CI) recipients, and presents the results from two research studies in the presenters' lab. One study addresses alternatives to remote speech-perception testing for CIs, and the other compares aural rehabilitation outcomes in adult CI recipients for clinician-directed in-person, clinician-directed remote, and self-directed at-home remote service delivery.

This course is devoted to discussion of Progressive Tinnitus Management (PTM), an evidence based method of tinnitus management designed to teach tinnitus patients to manage reactions to tinnitus, and delivery of services via clinical videotelehealth (CVT). Course information covers the necessary planning and supplies, documentation of care, ICD and CPT coding and discussion of outcomes measures for PTM delivered via CVT.

This session features representatives from hearing instrument and cochlear implant companies describing their telehealth initiatives as well as providing an overview of their latest technologies.

Prescriptive targets are the primary means of ensuring that a hearing aid fitting is appropriate. However, it is only a starting point for audibility. The SII (speech intelligibility index) is another way to determine if the signal is audible to the patient. While these are both useful and necessary measurements, they can also be misused in the hearing aid fitting for adults. This course will discuss the importance of SII and targets and situations where the audiologists’ knowledge and interactions with the patients should over-ride these measurements.

This course will provide an evidence-based overview of pediatric balance disorders, including symptoms, objective and subjective assessments, and other practical considerations for audiology clinical practice. This webinar is presented in partnership with American Auditory Society.

This course discusses Interventional Audiology, which is a term that describes bringing hearing care services directly to the field to address challenges associated with hearing loss in situations where communication is critical.

This presentation will focus on aiding clinicians in becoming effective preceptors. Foundations for effective precepting will be reviewed as well as strategies and techniques clinicians can implement to support graduate clinicians.
