This annual presentation provides an update on compliance, coding and reimbursement issues, including informed consent, application of credit card surcharges, tele-audiology, use of technicians and assistants, evaluation and management code use in audiology, and managed care updates.

Currently, many payers do not provide coverage to their beneficiaries for all services within audiology’s scope of practice. Some payers only cover medically necessary hearing and balance assessment services with no coverage provision for therapeutic services. Additionally, most payers do not cover the assessment and management services performed by audiologists, which are necessary for quality patient care. Audiologists must be knowledgeable of payer-specific policies for those with whom they contract and determine if their reimbursement covers the cost of providing the service. This session discusses case-based coding/payment options for audiologists to consider when providing non-covered audiology services.

This course will focus on updates involving coding, billing, managed care, and practice management for 2022.

This course discusses various coding options used by audiologists. Part one defines audiology CPT, Modifiers, HCPCS and Place of Service codes and discusses their appropriate use. Part two focuses on the basics of IC-10, the most common codes used by audiologists, and how to effectively integrate this new code set into an audiology practice.

This course will focus on the coding and insurance updates that are new for 2021. We will discuss the CPT changes, MIPS additions, and managed care medical policy and coverage updates.

This presentation covers pricing strategies available for diagnostic testing, hearing aid related items and services, and the hearing aids themselves. The importance of the breakeven analysis in effective pricing models, as well as Medicare and competition pricing is explained. Bundled and unbundled (itemized) hearing aid pricing models are discussed, along with their pros and cons, and how they function in various clinical situations.

This course focuses on the fundamentals of third-party payer/insurance contracting and credentialing. We will explore the steps involved in enrollment and credentialing and how to decide whether or not in-network participation is good for your practice.
