The Audiologist is responsible for administering diagnostic audiological tests that allow the differentiation between types of hearing disorders.  The Audiologist will provide hearing aid testing, selection and fitting to all populations. The Audiologist counsels patients regarding test results and reviews options which best meet their hearing care needs as a part of the patient education process.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Audiology

  • Performs comprehensive diagnostic evaluations including electrophysiology.
  • Presents diagnostic findings and treatment options to patients and their loved ones.
  • Completes chart notes for each patient seen.  
  • Makes recommendations regarding appropriate hearing care products.
  • Dispenses hearing aids including selection, fitting and ear-mold acoustics.
  • Demonstrates and sells Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s), and other products.
  • Performs hearing aid repairs, clean and checks and assists customers with exchanges or returns as needed.
  • Maintains an excellent standard of follow-up care with patient after fitting.
  • Refers patients to appropriate medical professionals and communicates with same regarding patient care.
  • Stays current with emerging technology, techniques and best business practices by attending conventions and training.
  • Participates in continuing educational events which may require occasional travel.

Operational functions

  • Submits custom hearing aid orders to manufacturers or provides sufficient information for staff to order standard products.
  •  Advises staff of need to order supplies for equipment/hearing aid cleanings.
  • Completes individual provider tracker.
  • Participates in community outreach programs including, but not limited to, educational seminars and grassroots marketing.

Miscellaneous duties

  • Maintains positive relationships with various vendors.
  • Provides excellent customer service and maintains good public relations.
  • Shares administrative duties with colleagues as needed.
  • Practices good safety and infection control protocols. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as requested.
  • Establishes and maintains good public relations.
  • Exercises confidentiality as it relates to all business and patient information (HIPAA).
  • Performs all other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

JOB SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Must possess Doctorate in Audiology, as well as NY State Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing Licenses.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diverse patient, colleague, and vendor population.  This includes listening, persuasion, and problem solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be willing to work at both locations (Henrietta and Lakeville, suburbs of Rochester)
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion for trainings
  • Experience with email, word processing and database software required; spreadsheet knowledge is helpful.
