I was really IMPRESSED with the course content. First, I have not completed an APD eval since graduate school so I am not qualified to do so but the information I had was also incredibly dated. I was still under the impression that the earliest a child could be tested was 7 years old and with no other impairments---WOW was my thinking dated! I was so impressed with the IQ information, the norms of APD tests lesser than 7 and how to apply the results. I also really enjoyed the review on IEP info

Knowledge of presenter and how information was pulled together to share. Standing up for what has been seen to be true in the school settings. Acknowledging problems with understanding testing & attempting to teach, when to test, how to test & especially how to report findings. Lived basically everything stayed in this presentation.

Presenter did not actually share the evidence, but rather referred to position statements as "evidence." He did not provide much information beyond the statements that children under the age of 7 can be tested for APD and that children's APD results should be compared to the standardized norms for their mental age (not chronological age). There really wasn't additional information.

This presenter supplied no research in his slides. The articles he cited, for audiologists to research themselves, were all studies done only by him. The presentation style was horrible and there were many typos and poor grammar on the slides.

This felt like a rant fueled by anger and "I'm right, your wrong" energy. Very distracting. Also, all of his research evidence is his own research. Even if his research was properly conducted, that makes me question the validity of all he is saying.

The information presented was disjointed, and the verbal presentation was unclear...I believe there may have been some valid, useful information, but its presentation was confusing. Additionally, there were numerous typo's- especially those in the exam questions (spelling errors and errors of commas) that altered intended meaning. Slides also contained errors. It felt like a 'first presentation' and might be better if redone. Thank you for presenting!

The majority of the references are from the presenter's own research and does not consider an unbiased on broader review of the topic. In addition, the presenter does not take into consideration the fact that children with ID often have delayed language skills as well as cognitive issues that would affect the ability of the child to follow task instructions. It is not just the APD task that becomes the issue but the ability of the child to adequately understand task instructions.

The presenter is very passionate about the topic and appears knowledgeable and experienced with APD. Very good information with great examples. I do agree with him that many audiologist are being misinformed in this area; however, the majority of supporting research was authored by the presenter which made it appear very bias. (Also, I would not recommend trying to follow the slide with his presentation; his examples often caused him to skip slides or jump around, which can make it difficult to follow. I ended up pausing or replaying sections of the presentation.)

The presenter had good points about the age of testing and how APD can be used to leverage for an IEP/504 in school, but I cannot wrap my head around how it makes sense to simply divide a child's chronological age in half, for example, if their IQ is 50, and compare their data to other kids of that age. Development is not linear so this is such a bizarre way to justify testing kids with intellectual disabilities. Also, the quiz questions at the end were poorly written and confusing.

I thought overall the content was an interesting perspective. Coming from a clinic where the majority of schools seem to accept CAPD as an educational diagnosis it is interesting to hear how much of a struggle it can be for some clinicians to advocate for their students. That being said, I think what made it "average' versus "good" or "excellent" was that all of the research done (aside from one article) was by the speaker. I would have liked to see others complete studies on these topics prior to an audiology online presentation being developed on it.
