PhD
Sheila Pratt has nearly 40 years of clinical and research experience in both audiology and speech-language pathology at the University of Pittsburgh and in the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Her interests include auditory rehabilitation and the impact of hearing loss on speech perception, speech production, and language processing across the lifespan. Her recent work at the VA Pittsburgh Health System has focused on Veterans with brain injuries, including studies looking at the impact of hearing loss on speech perception and language processing in adults with aphasia, and examining hearing and auditory disorders experienced by blast-exposed Veterans. Most relevant to this presentation is work with colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh on two multisite epidemiology studies – the Cardiac Health Study (CHS) and the Health and Aging and Body Composition Study (Health ABC) where the nature of aging and hearing loss, and their impact on health and wellbeing were examined.
