A review of previous methodology will first be reviewed, then will be followed by evidence of an interprofessional approach and why this is a preferred method. Concomittant diagnoses most closely associated with APD in military professions will be discussed.

- After this course, participants will be able to define and differentiate Multidisciplinary and Interprofessional practice as stated by the World Health Organization.
- After this course, participants will be able to describe what co-existing conditions/co-morbidities occur in military populations with APD.

Maia Magder, M.S. CCC-SLP, is a senior level Speech-language Pathologist and clinician-leader with a 25 year demonstrated history of leading cognitive rehabilitation teams that provide patient care, as well as advancing healthcare organizations in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) initiatives. At Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, she holds a dual role; as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, she oversees policy, education and training, and recruitment and retention programs to ensure an inclusive culture for 6,500 employees and the patients for which the Institution provides healthcare. Ms. Magder works with all stakeholders, administrators, and physician and clinician leaders to make WRNMMC an institution with DEI infused into every department, and ultimately, the ethic of how it delivers healthcare. She holds faculty and student supervisory positions in Neuropsychology and Speech-language Pathology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Gallaudet University, and The George Washington University. Before her roles at WRNMMC, Ms. Magder worked as a Clinical/research Speech-language Pathologist for 10 years at the National Institutes of Health. Ms. Magder received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Miami, her Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson College in Boston, and completed her Clinical Fellowship at Albert Einstein/Moss Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. She holds advanced certificates in Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Management from Georgetown University, and in Health Professions Education from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

David Jedlicka AuD is an advanced practice audiologist at the VA Healthcare System Pittsburgh where he specializes in APD, diagnostics, amplification, osseo-integrated devices, vestibular assessment, and clinical research. Dr. Jedlicka is also an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Jedlicka is currently pursuing his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh focusing on diagnosis and treatment of Veterans with self-perceived hearing handicap and normal audiometric findings.
