eAudiology: Real Talk About Real Ear: How to Integrate Rehabilitative Verification into Your Practice

Course: #40144Level: Introductory 1 Hour 69 Reviews
Recorded Webinar

Audiologists are responsible for ensuring optimal amplification outcomes for their patients. Often the primary goal is to better hear and understand speech. Many factors can affect the output of the hearing aids as measured in the patient’s ear. For this reason, it is critical to verify at initial fitting whether the hearing aids can be programmed to rehabilitate the hearing loss and provide speech audibility. This course provides practical information to effectively use real-ear verification measures and improve patient outcomes.

The presenters conveyed a message that REM can truly improve a patient's experience, and that it should play a greater role in fittings across the profession. However, I have encountered some issues where the REM, whether it be the probe tube is moved by the hearing aid when inserted, or odd configurations of my patient's ear canal, that certain frequencies have to be raised too high or dropped too low to make a good overall setting. The way to deal with that was not addressed.

Label your graphs please. Also rather difficult to hear you; captions struggle to make sense of simple phrases.
