I have been unfamiliar with MED EL's bone conduction systems previously, so I really appreciated the easily understandable explanations of device function, candidacy, and benefits.

Excellent information - good case studies.

It provided just a basic overview. I am not sure if I learned any more on this topic from attending this class.

Kevin's presentation style was easier for me to follow as I felt like he was actually teaching me instead of reading to me.

Ok here's what I don't understand about these courses. I don't understand why it seems to be so difficult to come up with straightforward questions and straightforward answers for the exams at the end. Here's an example. Question 4 - "For the patient that was fit with bilateral BONEBRIDGE devices, his etiology of hearing loss was: The correct answer is D. Chronic Perforation. However, the presentation clearly states "Maximum conductive hearing loss due to cholesteatoma (slide 56). I chose cholesteatoma as my answer the first time and missed it. The only other answer option listed on this slide was chronic perforation, but it says "on right side." I chose this for my answer the second time and luckily it was correct. Here is another example, and I never got this question correct after 2 tries, luckily I was able to pass with an 80%. Question 1 - "What are the limiting factors in a non-pressure bone conduction system?" The correct answer was B. Hair, position of device, skin contact plate. But the presentation states that hair is NOT a factor because it is not driving the sound THROUGH, but rather ACROSS. The ADHEAR system is placed on the mastoid where there isn't any hair at all, which would indicate that hair is NOT a factor. The section on BONEBRIDGE doesn't seem to mention hair at all (unless I missed it?) I watched the ADHEAR and BONEBRIDGE sections twice, searching for a reason that hair would be a factor, and I determined that it isn't a factor, but yet the correct answer to this question has hair as a factor. I'm just baffled as to why these questions have to be so vague and confusing. The whole point of the exams is to make sure that people watch the course instead of skipping straight to the exam. We shouldn't have to watch the course twice, and also read through the transcript and search through the slides. These should be straightforward exams that, if watched, the answers easily present themselves.

1. It was difficult to obtain handouts prior to the course. Handouts should be available at least 24 hours in advance.2. First speaker was not completely clear in describing the ADHEAR.3. Cases were poorly described; included insufficient discussion.

I liked the technical information and the case studies.
