External and internal anatomy, anatomy of the 8th cranial nerve and ascending and descending tracts that carry information from the vestibular apparatus will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes
- After this course learners will be able to identify the main components of anatomy of the vestibular system.
- After this course learners will be able to describe the basic physiology of the vestibular hair cells and the push/pull mechanism of the vestibular system.
- After this course learners will be able to identify the main ascending and descending targets for afferent vestibular data and describe the function (as related to balance and/or dizziness) of each target.
- After this course learners will be able to identify the efferent tracts that arise from the vestibular system.
- After this course learners will be able to describe the function of the VOR and its relationship to both the visual and vestibular systems.

Associate Professor, Quinnipiac University
Dr. Kelley is an associate professor of physical therapy at Quinnipiac University. She has taught in the areas of neurologic rehabilitation, balance, falls and vestibular dysfunction for 17 years. Dr. Kelley received her BS in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut, her MS in neurology from Boston University and her Doctorate in education from the University of Sarasota. She is also a board certified neurological clinical specialist. In 2004 Dr. Kelley completed her 200-hour certification in Kripalu yoga and in 2008 she completed an additional 200-hour training in Anusara yoga. Dr. Kelley’s passion for both yoga and preventing falls in older adults has created many avenues of service. Dr. Kelley has presented her work in the areas of yoga for fall prevention and electromyography and yoga asana both locally and nationally.
