The Effect of Transparent Masks for Speech Recognition in Noise
The authors will review an online experiment conducted to evaluate speech recognition in noise in persons with normal and impaired hearing when the talker wore an opaque and a transparent mask. Significant benefit of the transparent mask over the opaque mask was attributed to the addition of facial cues rather than acoustic differences between the two masks.

Influence of Provider Interaction on Patient Readiness
This course provides insights into the degree to which provider interaction influences patient readiness towards audiological services. Patient readiness is quantified through predisposed and post-appointment expectation profiles across 10 dimensions and among three professional settings. Overall, outcomes indicate that patient readiness is influenced by the behavior of the provider which, at present, appears to be a barrier to patient acceptance of treatment options.
