Question

What is Otoscan, and why should I consider it for my practice?

Answer

Otoscan is a pioneering 3D ear scanning solution, from Natus® medical,  that enables the creation of digital impressions for custom in-the-ear pieces like earmolds and hearing aids. The procedure is quick, simple, and pain-free, leveraging state-of-the-art equipment to improve the comfort and quality of impressions.

A primary benefit of this technology is that it eliminates concerns about otoblock placement, impression material quality, and the need for repeated impressions.

Does Phonak accept scans from Otoscan?

Phonak is now accepting scans from this innovative technology! The partnership brings several advantages:

  1. Faster Turnaround: By eliminating the need for shipping impressions to the manufacturing site, orders can be processed more quickly, allowing for faster delivery.
  2. Improved Order Management: Hearing Care Professionals (HCPs) can easily reference the Otoscan scan on their Phonak Store order and submit it seamlessly.
  3. Risk Reduction: The partnership reduces the risk of lost impressions since HCPs always have a digital copy of the impression, providing a convenient backup.
  4. Environmental Impact: As part of our commitment to sustainability, using a scanner like Otoscan helps limit the use of impression material and shipping materials, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint.

What are the benefits of integrating Otoscan into your practice:

  • Digital Access: You always have access to your scans digitally, eliminating the need to request copies from manufacturers.
  • Cleaner Process: The scanning procedure is cleaner without messy impression materials, contributing to an efficient and hygienic workflow.
  • Extended Impressions: With reduced concerns about otoblock placement, you can achieve longer impressions, enhancing the accuracy of custom in-the-ear pieces.
  • Real-Time Feedback: Otoscan provides real-time feedback on impression quality, allowing for immediate adjustments as needed during the scanning process.

Incorporating Otoscan into your practice enhances efficiency, reduces the risk of lost impressions, and aligns with environmental sustainability goals, offering a streamlined and innovative approach to creating digital impressions for in-the-ear pieces.
