Question

What are the benefits of the new soft healing cap with the Oticon Medical Ponto system?

Answer

The original healing cap was hard.  The physician would snap the healing cap on after surgery, and it would sometimes pop off and people would lose it.  The benefit of the new soft healing cap is that its flexible properties allow it to stay in place better.  It moves with the patient and tends to stay in place for the week or so after surgery that they need to wear it.

For existing patients who have some revision surgery or a skin tissue issue that is being treated, they can use the soft healing cap with the Ponto sound processor.  The open design of the soft healing cap enables the sound processor to be connected for these patients who are already wearing the Ponto, so that they have less down time without their sound processor.
